Cybercon III Documentation.
This Documentation isn't the offical directions to the game, I recieved the
game with no documentation what's so ever. Some directions may not be totally
complete or reliable. So no Warranty is expressed or implied.
Now on with the show. You start the game by typing CYBERCON and enter. You'll
notice that if you type start, it will report a file missing. I believe this
was the original documentation that some asshole deleted, so you'll just have
to make do with my directions. If you type CYBERCON H you'll get a list of
pre-run options.
Ok, you started the game, press Enter at the rotating robot title screen and
take option 1 to start new game. You will now be on a bridge in front of a red
door. Here are the general control keys:
Q - move forward
A - move Back
O - turn Left
P - turn Right
<Enter> + Q - look up
<Enter> + A - look down
Arrow keys (left and right) - selects a control option on the lower Right panel
on your screen.
Arrow key Up - turns on or off a function that's highlighted on the lower right
panel.
Arrow Key down - turns off a recharging control option while it's recharging
(more on this later).
F1 thru F4 - turn on or off the power levels on the lower left side of you
screen. They should all me off when not needed for a control function for the
right panel.
F5 - shows a full screen view of a remote camera (note: your have to set up a
remote camera first)
F6 - Saves position in game
F7 - restores position in game
F8 -
F9 -
F10 - Makes your guy jump up. Look at the circle panel at the top right of your
screen. When you press the F10 key is lights up green a portion of the circle.
The bigger portion of the circle that lights up green, the higher you jump. You
can get more of the circle to light up by turning on some or all of the F1 thru
F4 keys power keys.
F11 - Pauses game
F12 - Identifies the room number your in.
Space - Drops or picks up Items.
<Enter> - inputs a code or fires you weapon (you have to have the control panel
set up right first. More on this later.
Home - selects a different "Tool" on the middle right panel (notice that the
item in the middle of the lower right panel changes) Home selects up.
End - same as home, but selects down.
Page up - selects a different channel with you have the 1 thru 4 dot screen up
on the middle right hand panel. Page up selects up.
Page Down - same as page up but selects down.
Any letter or number key expect Q,A,O,P - enters a shape on the top part of the
screen (right side) when the shape option is on on the top left side of screen.
< and > keys - selects different shapes on the top middle panel.
Ok, the controls are simple enough (yea, right), let's identify what these
panels on the screen do.
The very bottom middle indicator is you compass.
The indicator on the middle left side of your screen tells you the level you
head is. So your looking level at first, if you look up or down the indicator
will tell you when your looking striaght up or down and when you looking level
again.
The little TV screen on the top left side of you screen is for you TV carmera
that you can set up and move around. (If you use the F5 key when it's set up
you will see a full view of the little TV screen) More on this later.
THe lower left panel are you power levels. The red lines tell you how much
power you have left on each "Battery". You need this power to operate most of
your functions on the lower Right panel. When not in use these batteries should
be OFF to conserve power. Some of the batteries can't be turned on because you
have to find more batteries to add to the panel. More on this later.
The top middle panel is split into two halfs. The right half shows you some
different colored shapes, and the left half is blank. More on this in a second.
First let me attempt to explain to you the lower right panel. You see five
different symbols, all with a red line under them. Starting from the right the
symbols stand for the following:
The man is you speed control panel. When you have this symbol highlight using
the arrow keys (the Top light green light means it's on) let's you man "Run"
meaning you can move real fast (so long as you have power on the power panel to
the lower left side of the screen). The red line under the man tell you how
many hit points you have left, when the red levels gone you die.
The next symbol is a Box. This is your shields. When this is on and some or
all of the batteries on the power panel are switch on, this will protect you
from damage such as Robots running into you, Robots and Gun implacements firing
at you. It will not protect you from falling damage. And soon as the power
levels on the batteries run down or out, you'll begin to take damage again.
This is only to be used in tight spots for a very short time. So leave it off
until you really need it. The red level indicator shows the condition of your
shields. If the red line is too low, your shields will not function as well,
or maybe not at all.
The Next box is one of 4 symbols, that you can change using you home and end
keys. I call these symbols Tools. Starting from the top of the panel that is
on the middle right side of the screen they are and stand for:
The top one, with looks like a reel to reel tape is your laser cannon
controller. When you turn this on, and turn on a battery, you can fire at
other robots. The more batteries you turn on, the more powerful the laser
blast. Again the red line tells you the condition of the laser, if the line is
too low, the laser will not function. (note: each tool has it's own red line,
not one for all of them, so if your lasers broke, the next tool you switch to
will have a different level red line and may still work)
The next one down is you tageting system. It looks like a cross hair target.
You can Fire bombs (or if you want to call the genades, whatever) using this.
you still lack a item you need to use this, so I'll come back to this later.
The next symbol looks like a box with 3 lines in it. I don't know what this
thing does. I originally thought it was for your TV cameras, but you can
control you camera's without this symbol.
The next symbol is a Hourglass shape. This is the one you started with when
you entered the game. This tools acts like a lockpick. You can open doors or
operate elevators and other equipment with it. When you select it, you have to
turn on a battery. Just type any three letters, try WWW. The tops left
display will now have 3 shapes in it. Press Enter, they will now disappear
with a ding, ding, ding. You have now unlocked the door in front of you. You
can now go thru the door. using your forward key. Make sure you turn off your
battery before you continue.
Now back to the lower right panel:
The forth symbol looks like a tennis court before it is lit up. This
re-charges your stats on the whole bottom right panel when this is on. When
you turn it on with the up arrow, a green light appears under all the stats and
slowly recharge. It automatically shuts off when all stats are up to normal,
and will not turn on until something is below normal. Note: your middle tools
panel, only the current tool up is recharged that's dispalyed. Other tools
that are damaged are not recharged unless they are displayed. If you turn on
one or more of your batteries, your stats will recharge much faster, but this
will use up your bateries quickly.
The Last symbol looks like a circle. This is the sensor when turned on, turns
on your TV, Height detector, compass as well and the circle with the red lights
going around it. It may be the the circle is a radar detector, the makes a
Ding-Ding sound when a robot is near (not sure).
Ok, you should now be in the next room. I'll guide you to a level I call the
hospital floor and finish explaining the rest of your stuff. Go straight thru
the Grey door in front of you. Go thru the red door. Ignore the little flying
robots, they don't do much damage and you can run right over them, destroying
them, without much damage. Go to you left, you'll see a grey door with a
Purple spiral on it, go thru that door. (Don't get too close to the pole, or
you'll have trouble manauvering. If you get stuck, back up and go around it.)
Ok, thru the grey door there will be a red door to the right, go thru the red
door. You will now be in front of an elevator. The little panel should have a
red square on it's edge, this means the elevator is on your floor. If it is,
go straight and enter the elevator. If it isn't, on this floor, turn on the
lock pick, type any three letters and press enter, the elevator will now come
to your floor. Once you enter the elevator, you'll see three sets of symbols.
The bottom one is the floor your on now, the top set is the floor you want, the
middle is a another floor of no special value. Turn on you lock pick tool, use
the < and > keys to select the top set of shapes and put them in the order that
is on the wall. Now press enter. The elevator will accept the shapes, and
move you to the top floor. If you turn around before you press enter, you can
see the elevator going up passed the floors. Exit the elevator and go thru the
doors ahead of you.
You're now on what I call the hospital level. You'll see why I call it that in
a minute. Go to the door on the right, and go thru the glass doors at the end
of the hall. CRASH! Walked right into the glass doors didn't you? Same as
before you can select the lock picking tools and type any three letters and the
door will open. This method works on 90% of the locked doors and elevators you
encounter. Ok, Thru the glass doors, go thru the door on the left. You'll now
be in a room with a orange guy and some stuff on a shelf. Don't touch the guy
or he will blow up, taking you with him, he doesn't move, he's harmless. (I
don't know what this is for yet). Look at the shelf. unselect your lock
picking tool. You'll see you items inventory at the top of the screen. You
can select them with the < and > keys. Move you're inventory selector to a
empty slot and go up to one of the items. It should be now flashing in you
inventory, You can now pick it up with the space bar. If you want, You can
drop it again with the space bar. Pick up everything on the shelf, and put it
in you inventory. You can have up to 16 items. Ok, now what does this stuff
do? Good question, took me hours to figure everything out. The Green Ball is
you laser gun, you need it to fire your laser and a battery. You don't have to
select it or anything, just having and using your laser tool let's you fire it.
If you drop it, you'll notice that the third green line of you batteries
disappears, you can't fire your laser either. The laser acts and a battery
too, one that recharges itself when not in use. The White and blue ball is a
ground TV camera, more on this in a second. The V shapes are air TV cameras,
more on these is a second. The hourglass shapes are Batteries. You may have
notice that you can turn on more of your power banks when you pick them up.
They are not rechaged yet, but I'll get to that in a minute. You should have
at least 3 batteries to be able to light up all of your power switches. I'm
unsure if having more makes your power last longer. The orange balls are
bombs, and the red pipe in a bomb launcher. It's not safe to fire those things
in here, so I'll get to them in a minute.
First Your Cameras. Seclect a camera, either a ground or air camera. Turn on
Carmera tool. Press space bar. Your camera will now is dropped in front of
you. And your middle right panel will be switched to 1 to 4 dot channels. You
camera is assigned to whatever channel happpened to be selected at that time.
You'll notice the the 3 bars next the the 4 dots that the middle one is
highlighted. (I haven't talked about these before, Cause I'm not so good in
working these myself). Press the page down key. The bottom bar is now
selected. You can now control your camera.
Air carmera - can move
Q and A - Moves back and forth.
O and P - Looks from side to side.
Q + <enter> and A + <Enter> - moves up and down.
Ground camera - can not move
P and A - Zooms back and forth.
O and P - Looks from side to side.
Q + <enter> and A + <Enter> - Looks up and down.
F5 - gives a whole screen view, F5 again to turn it off.
Page up unselects camera control and let's you move your guy again. Page up
again, lets you select your tools. You can assign up to 4 different cameras to
4 different channels and switch between them. You can disable your camera by
picking it up again. You can use your camera for recon missions to check out
areas in front of you and areas you can't get to. You can fly your camera
anywhere that is not barred with a locked door or elevator. Other robots will
ignore your flying cameras but the camera's can still be destroyed if a robot
runs over your camera or you fly it into an object that can blow up, like a gun
implacement. Your camera's can fly thru doors as long as they open for them,
and elevators, but it can't enter the codes to open locked doors or move
elevators to different levels. Although a camera may be able to hide at the
top of the elevator and when a robot uses the elevator and get a free ride to
another level, But the elevator will not move to another level when your camera
is in it and a robot is not. So if robots are coming out of an elevator and
your having trouble getting by them, a camera in the elevator will pervent the
elevator from moving to another level to pickup more robots, making movement
for you guy easier.
Now for you batteries.
Exit the room your in now, and go to the area with the 3 glass doors. Of the 2
glass doors on the one wall, go to the right (closest one to the door with the
hall you entered from). You're now in a little room. Look at the red glowing
square. turn on you lock picking tool, and press enter. The tools will
automatically figure out the code it needs to operate the room. It should be 2
purple triangles for both rooms. Press enter again, and the 2 triangles will be
accepted by the room. Turn on all of you power levels (batteries). You'll
notice they all shoot right on up to the top. This room rechages your
batteries, room one next to it rechages all of your controls, including your
hit points. Turn off all of your batteries, and save them for later use.
And now for your cannon.
Exit this room, and either go to the hallway or the room beyond. You'll need a
little space, so you don't hurt or kill yourself with your bombs. Select you
tageting system. Turn on a battery, and use the < and > keys to select a
orange ball. You can use the balls one of two ways, you can either drop it, or
fire it. If you just drop it, you don't need the red tube or a tageting system
on, you just press the space bar. If the a robot steps on it, or rolls over
your orange ball, it will blow up. However, using the tageting system and
power you can press the enter key, you will fire your ball bomb at your enemy.
(Note: you lose your orange ball from you inventory when you drop or fire it).
The bomb is powerful enough to destroy anything (so far as I seen). Many
things that can't be destroyed with your laser can only be destroyed with your
bombs. You will note that your bomb is fired from your left side of your body,
and the laser is fired from the right. Keep this in mind when your in close
quarters, It may save you life. If you fire a bomb into a wall right in front
of you, you'll blow yourself up. (I did)
Ok, I think that wraps up that directions part of things. The level your on now
is a safe level, robots will not come up here. The other rooms on this level
include a map room and what appears to be a control room for a robot, you can
use you lock picking tools to enter a code, but I have been unable to figure out
how to control anything from this room. there's some things I picked up and I'm
working on now:
Robots come out of and enter rooms with no exit, Can these rooms be teleporter
rooms? I used a camera, and placed in the back of the room to see what the
robots do. As soon as they enter the Blue and white striped room and the door
closes, they disappear. I've been unable to get my camera to disappear with the
robot no matter how close I dare to come to the robot. I also have been unable
to work this teleporter with my guy no matter what I do.
Often when a robot blows up, they leave behind orange balls and little volcano
type things that you can pick up. After you exit the elevator from your
hospital level, go thru the red door, take the door on the right and take the
next door on the right. This is a great place to pick off some easy robots and
pick up lots of stuff. The robots will fire at you when they enter the room,
fire at or near them or delay the little wheel robots and a big wheel robot
will crash into it, and they will both blow up. Stay away from them when they
blow up, but when stuff flys out from their short, risk going closer to pick it
up or it might be destroyed when the robots do blow up. These robots are minor
and you can take lots of hits and pick up lots of stuff before you have to
return to the hospital level to recharge. You can even store all your extra
stuff in the shelf room for future use.
If you drop a battery, one of your power stats bottoms out. And if you pick it
up again, it returns to normal. Maybe you can carry extra batteries that have
been recharged, and leave emergency stashes around to quickly recover in
emergencies.
If you turn off all of your stats and turn on some batteries, some will slowly
recover their power, but all of your stuff must be off including your sensors.
Remember to turn off all you batteries them all off when your done and before
you turn on your sensors and stuff. Only the green bar will recover, with your
green bar on and your first bar on, the first bar will be recharged, Provided
the green bar is maxed out first. The other batteries can't be recharged this
way.
If your in a edge type hallway, you can often ride the edge and get around an
oncoming robots. (edge type, I mean, over the edge is a long fall)
There are some shapes and colors that are not included with your basic lock
picking set. I so far found a Green Square, a Green Circle, a Green Triangle
and a Green Hourlass shape. Some elevetors need these to operate. Other
doors and some equipment will not respond to you code breaking attempts, maybe,
you don't have the right shapes and colors yet? When you find one, use your
lock picking tool and press enter. It will go thru all your shapes and when it
doesn't find it, it will add it to your shape/color selections. So far, all
the rooms that contained these shapes/colors had them on the door's enterance
to the room.
After you die, you can review the room you died in the the enter key. Just hold
it down.
You may find what looks like a little volcano. When you pick it up, it looks
like a magic marker pen top. You can active this item with you lock picking
tool. (after you drop it) It will form a block shape force field around it. It
will damage you and other robots so don't be too close to it when you activate
it. You can use this to block passages and doorways. It will destroy any robot
that comes into contact with the force field. If it is a little robot, it will
explode without affecting the volcano force field, but a big robot may destroy
you little voclcano force field too when it explodes. Since there seems to be
an endless supply of robots when your in a room (Always seemly going against the
way you want to go) this item does little more then slow the robots down a
little. Maybe it protects you from the robots laser blasts when your behind it,
I have to try that, could be useful.
OK there's another Item I located. If you follow the following room numbers by
pressing <F12> to get the room numbers, you'll find it too. 123, 122, 2, 41,
40, 136, 35, (you'll have to destroy the gun implacement), 37, 38, 39, (take
the second hole on the right, if the trap doors aren't open yet, you can open
them with your lock picking tool), 200, 218, 217, 215 (take first right and
jump down pit), 219, 220 (go to elevator to avoid gun and rest up before you
attempt to take out the gun implacement), after you destroy the gun implacement
firing from 221 into 220, go to the red square pattern on the floor. Use your
lock pick tool, a secret trap door will open up in 221, jump down it. I don't
know the room number off hand, but go to the little door on the one wall, and
use your lockpick tool to open it. A square will be within. It's red on 2
sides and green on the other two. It's an item not a lock picking shape/color.
I have located three other items in simliar rooms. All of the items fit
together like a puzzle, so if you have more than one, you and drop them both
and if they fall just right, they will form one item. To escape this pit, you
have to have a decent amount of power left on your batteries. Turn off
everything except your man, and turn on all your batteries. Now press <F10>
and you'll briefly jump over the edge of the pit, push forward and your out!
Make sure the trapdoor is open first or you'll hit your head and waste
valueable power. You will most likely not reach this room on you first try.
You have to get expereinced in operating your controls and learning to survive.
You'll save a lot of trouble for yourself if you save your game and exit out to
dos and copy your save file to another file when you complete a major task or
find an important item (ie. like copying C3SAVE.DAT to C3SAVE.SQU when you
find the green square. This way your game is safe if you accidently save the
in a pit and your almost at the end of the game (is there an end?). I have
over 15 different saved games under different names, and most of them are in
pits with some unknown control or object.
Ok, I feel I almost completed the game, so I'll give you some general clues on
how to find everything I have now. What do I have anyway? I have 4 different
green shapes and a item made up of 4 different items.
The green square is down in the lowest area of the complex.
The green circle is one the same level your on.
The green triangle is up one of the highest shafts in the complex.
The green hourglass shape is down one of the shafts in room 39. You can get to
it with your camera, so just use your camera to find it, and you don't have to
waste hours fighting robots, elevators and pits. The thing it's on is just a
harmless statue, it's not a robot so don't shoot it.
One piece of the item is given to you per the directions above.
Another piece can be found in the area of the green traingle shape. It's in a
pit under the demon type robot that's at the top of the three Green hourglass
shapes elevator.
Another piece is very close to the circle piece. In room 86 there's another
walkway across the room, it's down in the pit and thru a secret trapdoor.
The last piece (I hope, that's All I have anyway) is on the other side other
the giant three tower room. You have to jump from tower to tower to get across
the room, jump a pit with robots shooting at you and make it back again in one
piece, good luck (a cake job compared to the Demon guarded piece).
You'll notice as your get more of the pieces to the item, the game gets harder
with the appearance of new and more deadly type robots. Even the dog walker
type robot is motified twice as you advance in the game. Unforantly I can't
tell you what you ultimite goal is, or how to reach it, cause I don't know
myself yet. But I can tell you this on one of the best games I ever played and
the Best virtual reality game I ever played. If this is/was shareware, I'd
register it in a second. If you give the game with all it's crashes and
complicated directions/no directions half a chance, I bet this will be one of
your favorite game too. These documents were written before I secured a copy
of the .GIF, the background and walkthru files. I have included this file,
because it's a little easier understand the format than the other document file
is written in. Between the two of them, you should be able to complete the
game. With a little luck that is.
This hopelessly confusing file was written by, M.G.
